I am Boerge, from Norway, I like all kinds of weird stuff, and since the audioworld is full of it, I have found some interesting old stuff, but also newer equipment.
I recently sold my Renaissance 90 speakers and amp rig, and decided to get some new stuff.
I am comparing an Aragon 8008ST amp at the moment versus a new PS Audio Trio c-100. Older solid state vs new "digital" amp. Conclusions are yet to come, but I have to say they are both very good.
Main reason for registering at AK, is that I bought a set of Yamaha AST amps, AST cdplayer and the accociated AST speakers, you know this stuff that comes with cartridges..Can't get more weird than that, so I figured I needed it. I ran into some troubles.
Yamaha CD-90m cd player works, but no display. I have two Yamaha AST-A90m amps, one multivoltage and one 100Volt version (Japanese, might work in US??). The multivoltage version does not fire up.
So I need to look into these things. I will post pics and specific questions in the related sections of AK.
All help is appreciated.
My plan is to run a 220V-110V trafo on the outlet (220V) and see if the 100V version of the amp works. I have ordered service manuals to troubleshoot the display on the cd player and the non working AST amp.
Any idea if I can get the display running again? Can I still buy parts somewhere?
