View Full Version : My new baby - Harmon Kardon T65C
glxie63 07-12-2008, 01:48 PM Picked this up at a local thrift earlier in the week, had to order a belt for it. Put the belt on and it was spinning fast, argh. Just pulled it off, stretched it just a little, put it back on and all was good. The adjustment paraphernalia trips me out, especially the hanging weight. I couldn't believe it survived from donation to the shelf at the thrift.
Now it's rivaling my Dual 506 for top spot.
Any idea what kind of cartridge this might me? I can't find any markings, it's just red!
cheers,
george
thefragger 07-12-2008, 01:58 PM That's a pretty funny little dangling weight. The cart looks like a Shure... ? I'm going on the shape of the profile here.
Very cool looking table :thmbsp:
tentoze 07-12-2008, 01:59 PM No idea about the cartridge, but that is a very nice turntable. If it was me, I'd buy a new cartridge and be very happy.
Stanton681EEES 07-12-2008, 03:53 PM The cartridge looks like a Rega or an Elac but then again could be one of the many cartridges Audio Technica made.
BrocLuno 07-12-2008, 04:12 PM May even be a Nagaoka as in "Sanyo" or other house brand. It may say on the top? Otherwise, email aphoto to Steve at TTN and see what he says?
hakaplan 07-12-2008, 04:43 PM My guess would be a Fisher/Sanyo entry level thing.
hakaplan 07-12-2008, 04:47 PM And lo and behold, the cartridgemeister strikes again :) :

Fine for testing the tt. After that, almost anything is better.
Actually John (Stanton) was correct--it was an Elan Elektra, too.
While the conical didn't reference Nagaoka, this seems to be a decent upgrade, and is made by them. I'd try it.

Set it up right with a good cart and the HK will far outpace any Dual.
