My Father is 84 and is hard of hearing. The biggest problem he has is watching TV. My Mother likes the volume at a certain level which is not loud enough for my Dad to hear. What I’d like to find for him is a set of wireless headphones, where he can increase the volume on the headset, and leave the volume on the TV at a level that is good for my Mom.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.

When I first asked this question on here, Nyquist said it was a good idea and that my Mother would hear the dialog better with a speaker closer to her and that it had worked for others. That was most encouraging. But, I couldn't wire the speaker together with another, as I couldn't open the speaker. Other sites also mentioned paralell and series wiring, which I didn't think would work the way they explined it. The AIWA NSX DS55 has speakers in sealed plastic enclosures with plugs on the other end.
Finally, someone at a Verizon FIOS site mentioned hooking a powered PC speaker to the audio output jacks of the HD DVR (the DVR is connected to the AIWA receiver by a digital audio optical cable). I went to an electronics store and bought everything I needed and it works. The little speaker rests on the couch and is on only when needed and provides good audio and dialog. Thanks to all who responded to my question. It's nice to know there are those willing to help others. markdf
Maybe something like this using a separate headphone amp?

Sennheiser makes some pretty good wireless cans. Theyre pretty expensive though (significantly more than their wired counterparts). Sentry makes some real cheap ones, but they could be complete junk. I've only seen em through casual web browsing, never in person and never listened to em.

I second the Sennheiser's. One of my college roommates had a pair. Would walk around the place and up and down the hall all the time listening to CNBC. They sounded pretty good the times that I listened to them.

My dad has the same problem he had a wireless headphone set but never was really happy with it I don't remember that brand. So he bought a AR wireless headphone set here a month or so ago and has been very happy with it I dont' know the cost of it though but AR stuff isn't usualy that high.
