:banana:ok, i know this post may not belong here, but Mcintosh and apple inc. are both well, great companies. After a year of putting it off, I left verizon and bought a 16 gig. iphone yesterday. I have to say it is nothing short of amazing all the things that this phone can do and the free share ware included software that turns my phone into a wifi remote for itunes. I can be outside by the pool listening to music streaming from my computer via wifi to my stereo. The iphone at the touch of a finger can play any song in any of your playlists and control the volume ie the music playing is not coming from the iphone. The automatic updating of all your computers and iphone is also great ie if you ad something to your calender, ad a phone number in contacts, ad music etc, in either your iphone or computer the other know's it instantly. Anyone else know of any good hi fi applications for the iphone?:scratch2:

Lucky you. In Oslo, I was in line on 2 different days, but the thing was sold out before I reached the counter.
Well, at least I have the 2G .... hehe.

As for Mc / Mac combination, you can use the phone to connect to MS750 music server via the iPhone's browser.
The same graphical menu on the tiny phone. Here's to the hoping someone
will make a universal remote application for iPhone so that we can control our Mc stack!

Ah, yes, that might be the Holy Grail. I love my Sonos, but it is a hassle having both the Sonos and my URC remote. I like the MS300 interface better than the Sonos, but I hate having the TV on when I am in "deep listen", so the iPhone control would be great, but still calls for two remotes. I want everything in one and I will not spend money on a Crestron that would be far better spent on amps/preamps/cables/turntables/ or music!

An iPhone or iPod touch with a wifi interface that could control my MS300 and/or iTunes on my computer (a VAIO media center is part of my system) and have a fully programmable remote would be PERFECT! I guess it would need to have a black box with infared repeaters (which I have for my URC remote) and/or RS232 ports for the Mc's. If I had a few months to spare I would hack that together myself! If anyone hears about something like this, please let me know.

Is anyone using iTunes on a computer as a server? I'm looking for a cheaper solution for the time being, thinking about a Mac Mini and a 1TB external hard drive and a yet-as-undetermined DAC (suggestions welcome). With my iPod touch now able to function as a remote, I'm almost over the edge.

Yes. I have ripped my entire CD collection to my Mac (computer) in Apple Lossless. I then have an AppleTV connected to my MX136 via optical, so the MX136 does the DAC (I may at some point add an MDA1000). The AppleTV can be connected wirelessly (via 802.11n) or via ethernet to your computer... I have mine connected via ethernet. I can select music, movies, TV shows, music videos, YouTube videos, and photos from my AppleTV using a simple yet elegant on-screen user interface. I can also control playback via my iPhone using the free remote control app that Apple provides through the new App Store. All in all it cost me $239 for the AppleTV and $199 for the iPhone, using my existing computer. A Mac Mini would be your cheapest option for a computer, but if you have a large CD collection that you plan to rip losslessly, you should make sure you have enough hard drive space... I have a few thousand discs and they take up 500+ GB in Apple Lossless.
