Hi All, I just can't spend the 4 to 500 bucks on a album cleaner and I heard there is a DIY version floating about the AK, but can't seem to find it. Does anyone have a link? Cheers.

Does anyone have a link? Cheers. jcmjrt 07-29-2008, 05:34 PM Here's a nice looking diy machine. Jimmyneutron built and posted it here. Here's a link to his website that provides a write-up and pics. http://www.jimmyneutron.org/Record%20Cleaner.htm The easiest and cheapest albeit not so attractive diy record cleaner is using your own vacuum and modifying a crevice tool to vacuum the records. You can use a crappy TT for a convenient cleaning platform or even a lazy susan. Do a search on crevice tool if you are interested. If you want to not have to turn the records yourself, you can use a strong motor like an ice cream maker or bread machine motor. I use a bread machine motor now and it has LOTS of torque. I found one at the thrift for less than $10. grumpy 07-29-2008, 05:36 PM Used ones can be had for as little as 250.00 with the right amount of shopping. Jeff has a DIY. outlawmws 07-29-2008, 05:39 PM here is mine: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=104568 Stanton681EEES 07-29-2008, 06:54 PM Isn't he asking about a DIY record cleaner not a cleaning machine or did I read it wrong? outlawmws 07-29-2008, 07:03 PM I just can't spend the 4 to 500 bucks on a album cleaner Seems on subject to me. BTW, search DIY and RCM and you will get lots of other hits for different versions. Keep it to threads and not posts... |
