Any of you ever attend either of the two festivals they have here?
I saw a show on PBS this past weekend that got me turned on to some new artists (for me), The Duhks, and The Waybacks.
I blew my eMusic wad for the month by DL'ing as much of their stuff as I could.
The reason I mentioned the festival is that it sounds like they have all night jamming in the campgrounds after the scheduled performances by many bluegrass groups.
My 22yo musician/son would love this. My wife and I and 24yo daughter and BF have been on two Jam Cruises, and they were a riot. This sounds like the same type of thing.

I went to one day of the 3 day Springfest a few years ago to catch Guy Clark, who plays at it almost every year, IIRC. It's a good party, and if you like outdoor events, it's quite a beautiful location on the river. I have to admit that I'm way past being adventurous about camping for a weekend.

Same here. I'll continue to research it though. Seemed like a nice group of folks that run the event. I'd really like to work at the event for a ticket, and stay elseware. Thats why the cruise was so nice.

If you plan enough in advance, there are hotels available within a reasonable driving distance. Live Oak has a few smaller ones, and Lake City has more. Valdosta, GA would be another reasonable drive; for that matter, Jacksonville is only a little more than an hour's drive from the park, as I recall.

BTW, I looked at the line-up for next year, and it's another good one for sure. Guy and Verlon are back again, David Grisman, Commander Cody, Jim Lauderdale, etc, etc. One guy that always plays there that basically no one outside the North Florida area has ever heard is Sam Pacetti. Sam is a really nice young guy who lives in St. Augustine, I've spoken with him on several different occasions- a protege of Gamble Rogers before Gamble met an untimely end. Amazing guitar player.
