I'm putting together a DVD of old (real old) 8mm/16mm family movies and want to add some music. I've found specific music that relate directly to some of the scenes, but I need some generic background music for other scenes.

Does anyone know of a repository of such music? Would be nice if it were free, but I'm not averse to spending a few bucks.

Thanks,
EdP

Incidentally, I used the forum's Search feature but all it came up with is a blank page.

What genre are you looking for?

Thanks for the quick reply.

What I'm looking for is something unobtrusive, ie, it doesn't "take over". I guess very light classical would do - no jazz, no country, no rock, no ethnic - I already have some of those for special scenes.

Is there a genre called "Nondescript"? :o You know, the background music played in travelogues.

Thanks,
EdP

if you've a way to convert, i find that some of the elevator music selections on LP that can be found at any number of GW, SA or other thrift shops works quite well as background music.

Brian Eno's Ambient music would be cool.

You can find all types of genres here. They are short loops, but free.

Yup, "Music for Airports" IIRC was the subtitle. It was, seriously and purposely, designed to be used as background music.

Many filmmakers & especially documentarians, e.g., Errol Morris, employ the music of Philip Glass to great effect.
