I spun some old vinyl last night and thought I would tap me toes to some clarinet jams...listened to Benny Goodman's 40th anniversary of Carniege Hall Concert on London records, and was pleasantly groovin and then I heard the opening refrain to "Rocky Racoon" coming thru the speakers..:headscrat..quite a nice version if not really different, sung by Jack Shelden whom IIRC used to do some standup comedy along with his trumpet on the Merv Griffin show, and this was followed by a very melodious version but a short one of "Yesterday". I knew these songs were on the LP but it was still a pleasant surprise. One question I have is that it says on the label Phase4 stereo. Was this Londons attempt at quad or just a marketing gimic? Up next was a Coral LP of Pete Fountain's " The Blues" :music:..very nice..He was one of my favorite music guests on the Tonight show hosted by Johnny Carson, as you could always count on something to get the place swinging...

I really like Pete Fountain as well. If you can find it, grab a copy of Plenty of Pete on vinyl for a sweet listening session...
