Hi,
What is your overall impression of Time Life recordings? I picked these up at an Estate Sale:
Segovia
Pavarotti
Horowitz
Rubinstein
Before I clean them, are Time Life good recordings?
Thanks

For the most part, Time Life's records and CDs are above average soundwise ... I suspect that there are some exceptions ... one is the fake stereo big band LP box sets (most of those sets were also issued in mono which sound very good) ... I don't have any experience with T-L's classical material.

Most of T-L's records were cut by RCA, in fact most "name here" boxed sets were either a product of RCA or Columbia.

I can't comment on their classical stuff, but I have T-L's Sounds of the Seventies series and they sound great. I would say they are about as close to the originals as one can get. Plenty of rare gems in there, too.
Only problem is that some of the songs are edited , but there are over 20 songs for each CD for each year.

I have several T-L LP box sets, in various genres. All seem to be above average pressing quality. My parents had purchased them new, and I like them, so I have kept them.
