Hi,
I have an old Wollensak T-1515 Sterio Tape Recorder and many, many reel to reel tapes that I recorded back in the 50's. I am planning on putting some of the tapes on CDs but I can't find the power cord that went with this tape recorder.
Does anyone know how I can find a power cord that will fit this recorder or, if not, what can I do to to be able to rig something so I can get power to it.
Thank you.
Paul.

Any way you can get a picture of the plug? There were many different types, but my experience is that a standard extension cord will work.

That's the white 'streamlined' Wollensak portable with the metal housing?
If so, I think that the socket is just like that used on appliances (wafflemakers, etc.) of similar vintage. Maybe you have one around the house (we do)! Otherwise, fleamarket, garage sale, swap pile at the town dump... I can keep my eye out for one. I pitched the Wollensak deck I had (after harvesting the tubes); it was too far gone to rescue.
I think Mark's right. The Wollensak I had "way back when" used the same AC cord as my Mom's GE handheld mixer.

Here is a picture of the back of the tape recorder.
If indeed it takes a cord just like the old mixers, etc., I don't have any of those around anymore.
I will go to some thrift stores, flea markets, today and see if I can find anything that may look like it fits.
I'm sure it will be like looking for a needle in the haystack but I'll give it a try and get back to you.
Thanks for all y our help.

A standard, 1960s issue TV "cheater" cord will fit that. I'll check the stores below deck :-)
Yep, the cheater's may have squared-off corners, but can easily be trimmed to fit. Mom and Pop Hardware stores may have something to fit and I know AES has cheater cords. http://www.tubesandmore.com

Can't help with that particular radio; You could check here:

The buzzing is most likely a bad power supply electrolytic capacitor, although it could be as simple as an open ground someplace. Does it "buzz" even with the volume turned all the way down?

It only buzz's when the tape play button is pushed. I cleaned the heads and cleaned the insides with a can of air but it still does it . I am figureing it has dust in the volume control knob.

Always a good idea to check the cord bin when at GoodWill. They have piles of cords for a few pennies and some are old styles :)
