I just found a Telefunken reel to reel. Model 201. Anybody know? Looks in decent order, haven't tried to play it.

Wreaks! Forget showing kids smoker's lungs, they should have them smell their gear!

I once fixed a lady's from work pc. I pulled the side cover off while it was fired up, my whole house smelled like smoke for a week.:thumbsdn: BTW, wonder if Febreeze and electronics play nice together?

Too bad, I would have been curious about how it worked? I used to spray lab alcohol on electronics to rinse off smokers residue. Worked pretty well. Just flush with pressure bottle and leave outdoors in the sun to dry.

The first piece of audio gear that I bought for myself was a Telefunken "Magnetophon 204" reel-to-reel recorder. I bought it new from Olsen Electronics. This was in 1968 or 69. I still have it, it still works, and sounds great! It is not a top-line recorder, having only one motor and a single playback direction (you have to flip the reels over when you get to the end), but I used it with a pair of wall speakers, and a Garrard Mini-changer as my total stereo system for my college years. During my last year of high-school I used a "borrowed" Dynaco FM-2 tuner with it (the high-school AV dept. got the tuner back when I graduated...they never knew it was "checked out"!). I should try to take a picture of the old Telefunken to post sometime, I've never seen another one.

That would work well as alcohol does not conduct electricty, I've seen pics of projects where people have built pc's with the motherboard and cpu submerged in alcohol up and running, unfortunately it does not transmit heat well either.

Yeah, I would have loved to give it a spin. It looks pretty nice, and I bet it would have sounded OK. It is the Magnetaphone 201.
