My parents went to a wedding over the weekend and stopped at a garage sale. My dad saw a scope there and knew I was looking for one. He picked it up for 25 bucks. He really didn't know what to look for and just took their word it worked. I guess the were selling it for someone and supposedly the guy used it every day. Well it's a B&K 1474 30 MHZ dual trace. Came with manual, and three probes. A pair of Pr 36 and a gray one. the one Pr 36 is still in the package. The scope is super clean. I don't think it has hardly any use on it at all. Popped the top and it's clean as a whistle on the inside. I followed the manuals instructions and adjusted the crt so the trace is level and then adjusted the vertical gain. It seems to work like a champ. Dad did good!
What would be a good sweep marker generator?

Sweep/Marker generator: it depends on what you are attempting to align. 21Mhz or 45Mhz IFs?

I am kinda new at TV's but I would say 45Mhz. 45Mhz being the most common. I suppose if I pick up a set from the 40's I may need one to cover 21Mhz Correct? I need something for radio as well as I have never aligned any of my radios because I never had anything more than My Fluke. Now that I think of it I should get a VTVM. I am getting my workbench set up for some winter projects. Not that I don't have enough already....

Well I won a Eico Model 369 on ebay for the older stuff. And I bid on a BK PRECISION 3025 SWEEP FUNCTION GENERATOR but it does not do markers. Any recommendations????

How about a Bk 415? Would that make having the Bk 3025 superfluous?

You got a great deal. I have the very same model. It's new enough that it shouldn't need any restoration unless someone previously messed it up.

I also got mine at a garage sale, for $15 if you can believe that. I had just told the seller I'd take it, when another guy walked up and said, "How much is that?"

The seller explained that I was buying it for $15 (I'm frantically fishing for my wallet in the meantime). The other guy said, "I'll give you $50 right now in cash." To his credit, the seller stuck to our deal.

I didn't feel guilty about buying it for that price. If I hadn't happened along, he would have sold it to the second guy for $15 two minutes later and been happy.

yeah the scope is like new and it works great. No wear marks at all on it. Well I ended up winning an auction for a B&K 3025 sweep generator. So now I have that along with the Eico Model 369. But the 3025 does not do markers so....any suggestions? What will I need to do up my 63 Zenith?
I am bidding on one of those Television analysts. I am setting up my bench finally with some good equipment.
