Hi All,
I just bought a G-7000 and I am having problems with the tuner. Nothing at all comes in when in the FM muting mode. In the non-muting mode I get local stations but they won't even registar on the signal meter. Only one AM station down the street registars on the signal meter. The antenna is good. I cleaned and lubed all the pots. I also Detoxit the tuner cap where the shaft goes in and out by the fins. Nothing seems to help. Do I need to take it in and see if it needs the tuner aligned. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks,
Sid

Did you get any de-oxit on the fins?

No I didn't. and it was already bad before that. It isn't any worse or better.

Then take it in to get the tuner aligned.

Are stations coming in on the proper frequency on the dial? If not that's another sign.

There is no reason for the tuner to act like that with any receiver and a good antenna. Clean terminals. Spraying around the tuning capacitor can create unpredictable results like loss of sound detuning scrambling stations off from location on the dial, etc. But if you are saying it was bad before, then at least get it realigned.

Especially if you have other receivers that don't have the same problem.

I have a G-6000 and it hits 5 on FM up and down the dial.

On AM 3.5 to 4 on the signal strength meter.
