I'm using an SA-9800. Can I use the phono 1 or phono 2 rca jacks to hook up the VCR sound? or is this not a good idea. What else besides a TT can I use these phono rca's for?
Thanks
Mike

Nope. Phono is for Turntables only. Use one of AUx or Cass for your VCR.

if I get a Y adapter can I hook two devices into one set of rca inputs if I only use one device at a time or can an a/b selector be added to do this? I'm short one set of input jacks!

I don't see why not. Or you could get some type of switch box that would give you as many line levels as you want.

Few people use both tape inputs...are these already full?
Even with power off on these two signal sources (only one on at a time), the output stage of the 'off' device may still present a low-impedence load to the device which is 'on'. I would not do this.
Splitting outputs with a 'Y' is cool, but sharing inputs with such a device is not. Use a tape input, or get a simple 'A/B' box from Wal-Mart.

I have too much stuff hooked up. Tape 1 and 2 have the Cassette deck and playstation 2 hooked up, aux has the CD and thats all she wrote. I will look at those a/b boxes -- you say Walmart has them?

Wal-mart, RatShack...etc etc...
Most are designed with S-Video ports too. Just use the audio ports.
