After only a few days of searching for a stereo receiver to use with my new Sansui turntable I found this Kenwood KR-5600 for $25. The guy also threw in a pair of ProLinear Series 50 Stage II speakers for another $5 (I'll post some pics in the speakers forum later).

I am in love with this thing! I'm still awaiting a replacement stylus for the Sansui so I haven't been able to test it with any records yet. It has a great built in radio tuner and I've been enjoying the classical station all day, and also tuned into (a rather disappointing installment) of Coast to Coast AM last night.

It could use some cleaning both inside and out, which I've never done before so I might be asking some questions about this soon.

I also took some of his records for $2 apiece. They are all in beautiful condition, most without a single visible scuff or scratch:

Led Zeppelin IV
Queen - Big Bottomed Girls (including the risque foldout poster of the girls on bicycles)
Van Halen 1
Judas Priest - British Steel
AC/DC - For Those About to Rock
AC/DC - Let There Be Rock (I sort regret taking this one as it has a bit of scuffing, but we'll see)
Black Sabbath - Mob Rules
Queen - The Game
Audience - The House on the Hill
Michael Jackson - Thriller

And he threw in a copy of Elvis - Greatest Hits volume 1 for free.

Very nice looking gear :) Love the lights in the dark too. Very sweet. I would suggest not leaving the TT on the receiver though. It needs some breathing room.

Good job on the albums too:thmbsp:

Thanks Kermit. Good point about the receiver needing some room to breathe, I was wondering about that earlier actually.

Beautiful 5600, I have the next model up, the KR-6600. The whole receiver (preamp, tuner.. ) is nothing but top quality in this K-Wood series. Many say the bigger 7600 and 9600 are awesome MONSTER receivers.

Nice little receiver, one of the pieces I used away at college with a pair of PSB Alphas. Looks great in the dark and has a pretty nice tuner in it also.

That is a fine piece of gear! Very well built with excellent sound. I owned the KR 7600 and it is now with my son-in-law. It was too big for my latest audio cabinet. In its place I picked up a KR 6600 from EBay and love it also. Those Kennys were among the best that Kenwood made. Congrats!

Hi Postman.

Would you happen to be in the Winnipeg area? I saw the same items on a local buy and sell site. I was thinking of grabbing them but never got around to it Not enough motivation since I'm currently in love with a AU-717, TU-717 I recently scored at a yard sale.

Nice receiver! I love the way that series of Kenwood receivers look with the trim around the large tuning knob.

I haven't ever heard one - hopefully I'll stumble across one at some point.
