Finished up the soldering last night - bought the right fuses today and gave it a listen. Surprise, Surprise - everything worked without any spark or smoke :thmbsp:

Basic circuit here - EF86 pentode RC coupled to an EL156 UL connected. Bias is adjustable so you can change the output tube to your liking. 6550 or KT88 can also be used.

Now I need to get the metalwork in for the other monoblock and solder it up.

Here is a short video of the amp:

I should mention that it normally won't be mounted on the side - just this way for testing...

i presume you wont be running minimus-7s later either... ;)

looks good!

That's awesome. I'd like to build a tube amp but I don't even know where to start.

Cool stuff! :thmbsp: Got a schematic? What transformers are you using?

no schematic yet - it will be drawn up once I'm done tinkering with it. Output transformers are Hammond 1627SEA - nothing exotic, but they seem to do the job quite well considering their origin. One of the few lower priced transformers I could get that had a UL tap, could handle 100mA of current and had a good lower frequency response. They are BIG and can actually make some decent bass.
