JDaniel 08-07-2008, 08:49 PM I've always been a fan from back in the Whiskeytown days. Where he lost me somewhat as a fan was by releasing so damned many albums in a short period of time (10+ in 3 years). I just couldn't keep up, or perhaps, didn't want to try and keep up. I've seen him before - he tours thru here every couple of years. Definitely worth seeing.

ScramMan2 08-08-2008, 03:28 PM My son has been out on the road following him a couple times. He's got some good stories. I've only seen him one time in Milwaukee last Sept. I like how he reacts to the heckling. I'm hoping to be able to see him in Madison WI.
ScramMan2 08-23-2008, 10:05 PM Tour starts tonight. Anyone go?
ScramMan2 09-02-2008, 03:00 PM Bump ... I hope to be at the 10/5 Madison show. Going to see My Morning Jacket on 10/3. Should be a great weekend!
ScramMan2 10-01-2008, 02:37 PM The Madison show is coming up fast ... and it's Hemp Festival weekend to boot!
My 22yo son is going to the Indy show on Thursday. Friday night I kick off my weekend with My Morning Jacket, and a free after concert show with Dead Confederate & Catfish Haven. Anyone ever hear of these two groups?
MAXZ28 10-01-2008, 02:42 PM Have fun! Never got into Ryan Adams too much although I should delve into his offerings as he's a big Paul Westerberg fan. I dig PDubya so maybe you could recommend an RA album I could try? :scratch2:
JDaniel 10-01-2008, 08:13 PM Just noticed he's here in the neighborhood on Oct 18th.

You lost me on the last part.

He's also opening for Oasis. I think that will be a pricey ticket though.

I own a few and like Gold and Love is Hell. Some say Heartbreaker is his best solo LP.
Tmac83 10-03-2008, 10:53 PM I will be seeing him with Oasis on Dec 19 in Camden, NJ. I have been an Oasis fan since 7th grade and have haven't missed a Oasis tour since before Standing On the Shoulders of Giants tour. I am looking forward to seeing him as I have heard alot of good things about him. Ryan did a cover of Wonderwall a couple of years back and Noel Gallagher liked it so much he began to play it like Ryan Adams. As for the ticket prices they are f^&*ing outrageous. $73.50 plus fees. I thought hard about not going, but its tradition. Anyone else no way. Should be fun though.
rkcran 10-03-2008, 11:27 PM Okay, I'm finally going to post a response. I've been lurking on the Karma for about a year now...
Ironically, I'm sitting here listening to Cold Roses, 180 gram LP, and see the thread for Ryan Adams. It's a sign: Come clean and post.
Simply put, Cold Roses is a great album, one of the best from Ryan and the Cards. I'm listening on the following equipment: Pro-ject Debut III turntable with a Shure M97xE cartridge, Adcom GTP-400 pre-amp, B&K 2140 power amp, & a/d/s M9 speakers.
I'm considering going to see R. Adams and the Cardinals in Atlanta in a couple of weeks.
P. Shivers 10-04-2008, 12:49 PM Simply put, Cold Roses is a great album, one of the best from Ryan and the Cards.
That's my favorite Ryan Adams record.:thmbsp: I saw them live in Seattle last January. It was a great show. I think he's a terrific songwriter, and Cold Roses is the best pairing of his songs, with a great band, in my opinion. The only record of his I don't care for is 29.
ScramMan2 10-05-2008, 05:02 PM Show is tonight, I have circle (1st balcony) tickets right dead center 2nd row.
This is at the Overture Center in Madison WI. They don't have a lot of rock shows at this place, looking forward to how it sounds compared to My Morning Jacket on Friday night at the Riverside Theater.
I watched SNL last night for a rest, the Killers were so-so. My hearing is almost back to normal.

Welcome, glad you came out of the listening room.

Seems like we have a simliar taste in music. I saw My Morning Jacket last Sunday night.:thmbsp: Very loud show for my middle-aged ears, but enjoyable all the same. Their light show got a little annoying at times, when they'd blind the audience with the bright lights. When I saw Ryan Adams, he filmed his own video from the stage, and got us to act like Zombies for his film. I preferred that to being periodically blinded by intense bright lights.:D Enjoy the show.:thmbsp:
jmela 10-06-2008, 05:15 PM he's a big Paul Westerberg fan.
Saw him play in Mpls a few years back (Love is Hell tour, I think) and between songs he called PW a 'bitter old bitch' or something to that effect. He then decided the amps were humming too much for him to continue and left the stage. Ten minutes later he reemerged to play the same songs he had just played acoustically. The hum was gone but rocking had been supplanted by sucking and soon people began streaming for the exits.
I heard he 'straightened up' or whatever that means. Let us know how the show turns out.

He did a lot of songs from Cold Roses in Madison.

I have a 22yo son, he has met both Noel Gallager and Ryan Adams. He said right away it was going to be too pricey to see RA open for Oasis.
Let us know how the show was OK?
ScramMan2 12-01-2008, 11:20 AM I just got a copy of Ryan Adams Gold on SACD. I haven't had a chance to give it a good listen yet.
ScramMan2 01-16-2009, 06:22 PM Ryan Adams is quitting the music business. Last show in Atlanta 3/20/09.
I could not find the blog by RA on his web site, this one has a direct quote:

Mystic 01-16-2009, 09:29 PM Heard his rendition of Wonderwall and didn't think much of it at the time, but if Noel likes the kid, then that's good enough for me. I'll have to seek out additional material of his and have a listen.
