Hello all in the Klipsch Korner! I am happy to announce that I am the proud new owner of a pair of 77' Cornwalls. I am just wondering if anyone has experimented with adding additional damping to the interior of the cabinets. I am thinking about lining the inside with asphalt damping pad in hopes of improving bass and reducing cabinet resonance. Has anyone tried anything like this?
Thanks

Congrats on your Klipsch purchase! As far as lining the inside with asphalt damping pads, for more bass extension.... I personally would leave them alone. Cornwalls are not bass shy. Of course your personal preferances should dictate your choice. I would freshen up the crossover networks, if they have not already been done. Bob Crites here on the AK forums can either sell you a new network, rebuild yours or point you to a parts list so that you can do your own. Good luck and keep us posted.

As a few other folks have done, I reinforced the sound board and back panel. It did tighten things up a bit as those are both rather large and fairly thin (for the expanse) pieces of wood.
And the crossovers should definitely be redone. I built the Al Klappenberger XOs which worked marvelously. Bob Crites' recap is certainly more economical.

Damping, no. Re-cap the XOs, yes.

Thanks for the info. I wont do any damping and a re-cap is on my to do list followed by a new veneer job.
