Hi, I'm new here, and I read online that the Sansui buffs reside here.

My question is: Can I bridge two AU999s, and if i do, what can I expect from the bridging?

My speakers are Paradigm 9se.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

bi-amp / bi-wire OK, bridged not ok.

Get some mono blocks made for bridging, unless of course your 999s are expendable.

What are you thinking about bridging them with, maybe there's other options for more power?

how would I know if they are expandable? pre output and main input?

He said 'expendable', meaning that, you don't mind if you destroy the amps (through the process of bridging).

I thought that PRE and MAIN were for bridging.

If you took the pre out from one 999 into the amp in of another 999, it would be like using one 999.

If the two would sound like one, why bother putting a PRE-MAIN?

I might still do it, just for the look.

Dude,
Stop, just stop before you ruin anything.

First off what are you trying to acomplish?
Louder music?
If so then you might want to get another power amp, and take the Pre-amp out puts of the 999 and plug them into the new power amp inputs.

The pre outs and amp inputs are there to add versatility to the equipment.
Let's say you bought the 999 and later decided you needed a pre-amp with more inputs. Instead of just getting rid of the 999 you could take the outputs of the new pre-amp and plug them into the 999's amp inputs.

Do you have 2 AU999's?
If so either keep one for backup, or sell it and get a more powerful amp, or a more versitile pre-amp.
But what ever you do don't try to bridge them, you'll end up destroying them.
They were not made to do that.
good luck

Thanks mdelrossi

I don't really want power as I never get a chance to crank it up. I just thought if I connected the two of them, I would get twice the sound quality.

I might use one as a pre amp, and get an amp... just for the look nothing looks better than two vintage sansuis together, not including a tuner, a tuner is the cherry on top.

Your advice is greatly appreciated.

If you have 2 of these amps you can use them in a bi-amp or bi-wire mode using the pre ins and a separate pre-amp with 2 pre outs. To accomplish this you can take the 2 pre outs from the separate pre-amp going to the pre ins on the amps. Then wire the speakers from each amp and hook them up to the speakers one set from one amp going to the woofers on the speakers and one going to the tweeters/mids on the speakers (horizontal bi-amp). Thats one way to use 2 of these amps without blowing them up in the process and get better sound.

I was reading around and I heard that theses 999 can be modded for better sound quality. Does any one know what the modding does?

Is it just upgrading part, or adding something totally new to the amp?
