Are your original copies of Joy Division domestic pressings? You may be listening to the U.K. pressings which are mixed differently. I'm just curious, were they culled from the original master tapes?

my Unknown Pleasures is a UK press, my Closer is a Factort US and my Still LP is Itallian. I do know that the British original CD for substance has a different mix then the US Qwest cd. I hadnt thought about country of origin untill your post.

i have a Factory UP, from back when, a tape of Substance, from back when, a CD of UP, and the 180gm reissues of UP and Substance. i don't care about the mixes-- i love 'em all. the only problem with JD is that there weren't more recordings done...

My UK pressing of Unknown Pleasures sounds very good. If you get the new ones please let us know how they are.

Glad to see there are other Joy Division fans on this site. One of my favorite albums is my copy of Still on 180gram vinyl. I think it was an import and I bought it back in the day when there were still music stores selling records.
