Vintage receivers by Allied are great sounding and the build quality is better than most of the "made in Japan" brands.
Many people have never heard of Allied so they end up selling for cheap!

I'd say the Harman-Kardon 430, 730 and 930 are worth a listen.

JVC and Mitsubishi. Naw, you don't want to look for those, you and I will end up in competition :)

Reference by Quadraflex receivers , i've had 2 , both were stout amps with fine tuners.
Zenith Allegro 2000 and 3000. i've had 3 pairs . alnico woofers, foster compression
horns .... one pair had celestion woofers . very lively indeed . true sleepers.
garrard transcription turntables . realistic miracords . they look like clunky bsr's ,
but sound very good. underappreciated.

I really, really think alot of Technics these days. I think they made some very good gear in the 70s and early 80s. I have an integrated amp, tuner, turntable and tape deck, all purchased in separate sales, that total 8 bucks.
If that ain't Under the Radar I don't know what is.
Also, early Pilot solid state.

The JVC XL-Z1050 CD player with the K2 Interface. Superb player, even by todays standards. Snag one if you can. It won't disappoint you.
