problem with sansui A909

i got a hold of sansui A909 recently but as i tried it out there was an issue with the volume, when listening to low and mid volume the right side is much louder than the left but higher volume it works just fine. I had a friend look at it and he think its probably the volume control sliding mechanism thing, but he didnt know for sure. Has anyone else had this problem or have a good idea what would be causing this?

Yep, search this forum for the technique, and clean that slider control.
It will fix the problem.
