I'd just like to vent some frustration about a 2325 going for over $1100 on ebay. and a 2235B going for $195. why so high? they're both common units. and while we're here, what Marantz receivers should be going for such prices? i'd say a 2385 for $1100, and a 2252 or 2265 for $195. kinda makes me angry to see my dream receiver getting driven up beyond remote affordability.

I wish I'd bought some before they became hyper-valuable.

Supply and demand and the newbie collector with money and no clue. The 2325 is one of the nicest Marantzs though.

I wanted a Marantz originally but I was turned off by the price, then I discovered Yamaha CR series and Yamaha "Natural Sound".
Now I am buying at least three of their top models before they get discovered by more people and go up in price, and I estimate it won't be long, judging by the asking price of a CR-2020 with a less than pristine front face on that bidding place that almost everyone around here complaints about but they check, I am sure, probably a few times a day.:D

I've only ever seen ONE 2325 for sale here in Hong Kong. Even the 2500 seems more common here, and only the 2330b and 2600 seem equally rare (seen only one each of those, too). The one I saw was in good shape, cleaned and checked out, wearing wood. I hesitated at the $500+ Retail asking price, because it seemed a bit high at the time (2-1/2 years ago) and by the time I made up my mind and went back for it, it had just sold. :sigh: Still hoping to find another.
That said, I have seen a BUNCH of 2385s, and most of them have been right around the $400-500 price range. The price on them has not budged in three years. If the ePay prices stay over $1000, I may try flipping one or two.
$195 for a $2235B seems to me a bit on the high side, but I don't mind if lower-end Marantz prices go/stay high: I have a bunch I'd like to sell! :D
As for you getting your dream receiver at less than sky-high prices, be as aggressive as you can at seeking out alternative sources (garage sales, CL, etc...) and try advertising in classified ads, supermarkets, etc... Print up little cards and hand them out, etc... Ask around and tell all your friends what you are looking for. They made and sold enough of them, and not all of the remaining ones are already in collections, by a long shot. There is one out there waiting for you somewhere; you just have to find it ... or help it find you! Be patient and be persistent, and one day soon you will have one sitting in your home, playing music for you. :music: Good luck! :thmbsp:
