I know you're all gonna chuckle when you read this question (I tried searching for the answer but the search function seems to be currently down), but here goes:

I have a digital source going into the AUX input (cough - iPod, which will soon be swapped out for a 'dedicated music server', more on that later) and a Yamaha CDC going into one of the PHONO's. Why does it sound 'OK' when I put the source selector on PHONO-1, while the CD player is plugged into PHONO-2, but the AUX sounds so much better? And with two sources, CD and digital (turntable to come), how do you recommend plugging them in? I don't have a TAPE input or AUX-2. I know this is a vintage rig, which I've been enjoying thoroughly, just trying to maximize the quality of the sound.

I know you're shaking your head "this kids a moron," but it's better to sit there with your mouth shut and let everybody *think* you're an idiot than open your mouth and prove it.

Wait, that doesn't apply here.

What do you mean you don't have a tape input? My G-7500 has two.

Phono should always only be used with a...phono. They use a pre-amp stage that other devices don't need.

And btw, I''ve asked far dumber questions.

a Yamaha CDC going into one of the PHONO's. . No :thumbsdn: Too strong signal from your CDC.

the CD player is plugged into PHONO-2,
No :thumbsdn: Too strong signal from your CD.
They should be connected to AUX or Tape Mon.

I don't have a TAPE input.:saywhat:

I guess I was a little thrown by the TAPE PLAY, REC inputs . . .

I'll check it out. I think I got a bum CD Player anyway (off C-list). Dern thing skips like a Mother, but he's 'never had that problem'.

How do we feel about Denon DVD players as CD players?

Thanks again.
