i was just listening to the rockets on some bootleg cd's i had in the closet that i thought i'd lost. what a great band. i was fortunate enough to get to know dave shortly before his death and he was one of the coolest guys i've ever met. he had some great rock and roll stories that he'd tell if you got him talking. crazy backstage stuff. just wondering if any of you guys listen to them as well.

I am a longtime fan. I grew up with Dave and went to elementry school in Union Lake with him and his brother Mark. I used to go see Dave sing in a few of his bands like The Midwest Tree Company and Shadow in the early-mid seventies also. You are right. a great guy with great stories and he is missed by many.

Never saw his earlier bands, but am very familiar with his days with the Rockets. A good singer and a decent front man, but I always felt he wasn't a perfect fit with McCarty, Johnny Bee, et al. Maybe it was the actual age difference and the fact he was playing with guys with tons more road and studio savvy. Born too late or born too soon, I dunno, Certainly destined for bigger things.

Dave's brother Mark was good also. I think he was with Adrenalin, which was a pretty good band in the Detroit Area. I think the did a movie soundtrack.
