Thank you !

I have the same issue. While I can't detect the mono or stereo difference, both modes both sound nice.

Make sure you have power there first, if so then all you need is a small lamp available from member Dwojo {PM him} or parts express, an AK sponsor.
I think it's a 6v 30ma that you will need. If the tuner section needs work you won't have power there so a bulb won't help.

Good point about the tuner section, nosirrah.
There is always the possibility the Stereo light is not coming on because the signal is not strong enough or tuner has gone out of alignment.
Is the tuning meter seemingly centering and freely swinging equally to either side of the center of the meter?
Is the strength signal hitting at least 4 on most stations? Assuming the upper scale is a 5.

I have a G7000 receiver; The stereo LED doesn't light, the tuning meter only swings to the right and the signal strength meter doesn't work at all (works in am mode)
I took it to the local electronics repair shop and was told "tuners don't go out of alignment...it's most likely component failure and if I isolate it I probably can't find replacement components anyway"...this guys been around forever and works on everything (doesn't mean he's any good)...so what gives, I'd really like to get this working!

I am not a tech so take that into consideration.
I don't know what to say except cite my experience.
I have a G-6000. The tuning meter was a bit off center. The stations were a little off position on the dial scale. Strength meter was not hitting 5 at all.
After adjustments, the position of the tuning needle on the dial is now good. 98.1 is now 98.1 instead of less than 98. The tuning meter swings evenly from either side of center as the stereo indicator lights up. The signal meter is hitting 5 up and down the scale on strong stations. That to me is a result of adjustments or "alignment."
Also I was getting a chuffing sound around 88 MHz. Cleaned the tuning capacitor and that cleared that up.
That said, there are some components or parts that could very well be in such bad shape that they need to be replaced. In fact there is a thread in Pioneer section where it seems they will need to replace some parts. Here's the link:

Maybe try another tech to get a 2nd opinion.
I will say that my Sansui 4000 doesn't seem to go past 4 although it sounds like it may be a 5. So I am not having that fixed for now.
Also, most service manuals I have seen have some section on FM alignment. Pioneer SX-939, Yamaha CR-800, etc. which is why I mentioned that as a possibility. A sample page is attached for the SX-939 only for illustration only. I do not have a G6000/G7000 service manual. Of course not recommended to do an alignment on your own because it does require special equipment and tools or you can make things worse.

Good advice given here...
Alignments will be about $125.00 typically with some new caps.
The cost is cheap if it's your main setup and you are a fan of FM, which of course is free.
You choose.
