Hitchhiker's Guide to old, weird Model H Heresys

Finally tripped over a 52 year old set of 3 Model H's......now to read up!

2 mains with Xovers at 1000 & 5000,
oil caps,
cane grill cloth,
plus a bass cab with no xover--just one woofer.

Serial numbers:

291,
292 (Model H-D-12) : K-77, K-55, K-22 (11/56)
293 (Model H-D-12-B) : bass unit, K-22 only.

Others I've read about cross over at 700, not 1000.
Only 11" deep, not 13" like every Heresy I see on the web. :saywhat:

Inspection stickers all there, so it's not a kit.

1. Klipsch website for specs and pics

2. Review w/ cool historical background by David L. Winebrenner about here (http://www.audioreview.com/cat/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/klipsch/heresy/PRD_119926_1594crx.aspx#review0): might have to hunt, it changes; it's the June 9, 1999 review (about 37/47 at this time).

3. searching AK for info-rich ...any early Heresy threads that rock? :guitar:

I'm still digging so be patient...my first 'heritage' Klipsch. (Had towers: RF-3, RP-3, still have RF-7's. )

I'm convinced PWK never thought any Heresys would sell!

If Cornwalls were also on the showroom floor, why would anyone in their right mind buy one 3 times too small for its woofer? Even placed 2 pi? Seems the Sats/Sub concept is much older than my 1979 M&Ks.

Heresy is an AMC Gremlin--full size motor, truincated body! There are Gremlin collectors/fan sites too. Gotta love green Gremsters.

Silly...Cornwalls were invented in 1959...perhaps they weren't on the showroom floor at the same time...I believe the early Heresys were to be center speakers for a 3 channel Stereo...thanks for the info...got me looking...:D

I posted pics on the new thread...trying to I.D. the drivers source companies. Amazed how good they look after ~50 years... tinned wires didn't oxidize, plated or anodized or enamel drivers look deceptively new.

Hi,

PWK intended the Heresy to be a center channel for Klipschorn or Cornwall systems. He loved the Center channel concept. Your woofer appears to be made by Jensen. Have seen a few older Heresy woofers made by EV in Newport, TN. :tresbon:
