Here are two pics of my $20.00 Thrift Shop find, a Kenwood KD-5077 turntable:

It did not come with the AT record weight, or brush or other accessories in front of the table. It did come with the Kenwood logo phono cartridge and the Kenwood logo 45rpm single adapter. The metal Kenwood name plate is missing from the front of the pseudo wood base. I cleaned up the metal rim of the platter nicely using Turtle Wax automotive buffing compound, and I generally used a Windex type product to clean the rest of the table and dust cover. The old label glue was removed with Goo Gone.
The table works fine. I played three records on it tonight, but it could use a better cartridge and some damping tweaks.:music:

This unit will serve as a back up to my Pioneer Series 20 PLC-590 & PA-1000 table and carbon fiber arm combo that is currently undergoing refurbishment.

Kenwood made some nice decks. It's an excellent find. And a bargain price. Would have been great with a corian plinth/base.

Right, you can spot it a mile away :D

Beautiful table! And for $20 no less.

I also use one of those AT weights--it works very well. I think it's an AT-618 stabilizer, IIRC.

Nice find - it looks in good condition. What do you mean by "pseudo wood base" - isn't it wood? Many of the Japanese turntables of that era did have wood bases (usually chipboard), but with an imitation wood vinyl veneer on top.

To me Pseudo wood is any wood look item, having a fake wood veneer, regardless of the substructure. I am old school when it comes to wood. I want the real McCoy, but for $20.00, no problem on this deck.

Yea the cart could stand replacing, maybe an AT440MLa.

Yeah, the Japanese were big on fake wood veneer back in the 70s and 80s. Mind you, a lot of speaker manufacturers were the same - I suppose they figured that saving some money on finish gave you better sound for the money.
