1219..1229....1249 Single?multi Mechanism

I know this has been thoroughly discussed BUT....are these rings all interchangeable and are the all hard to find? When this ring is broken does this mean the arm will not go up or down and stay put? My exact symptom with sracker spindle is record drops properly..arm lifts goes back down ...turns off...NEED NEW RING??? or adjustment. Just buggin me, i want to have a dual that all works right if its not too crazy. Also have an opportunity to obtain a "nice" "working"1009F Dual for barter is this a taker or a slacker.. your thoghts fred bill seth ,in the know.PS when I move the lever the arm will stay in the "locked" position.

All of these Duals eventually experience this failure mode, when the clutch tip disintegrates. See item 56 on the attached picture- the rod on 56 has a white cap on the end that gets pushed to lift the arm...it slso provides the sideways friction that moves the arm laterally. When the tip disintegrates then it does not engage the paddle below it to move the arm sideways.

Replace the tip (use use a facsimile) and you will be back in business. If you search you will find a lot of info on this problem.
