I was at a music store the other day, and actually saw MANY new albums from popular artists like Rihanna, and the Pussy Cat Dolls, on LP's!!
Of course I had to purchase them, been a long time since I saw a new LP. ;)
Has anyone else found new albums?
I was shocked to hear a record so new, not a single pop or crackle. I actually ripped them to my iPod, and showed it to friends, and they thought it was a SACD rip or something.

Where have you been?????
We have an AK sponsor who sells records, and gives them away, in monthly contests, here on AK. There is one running right now. Check out the AKNews forum!
Check out SoundStageDirect.com (banner below) for albums of the latest releases and reissues of old favourites.

Oh, and Tuesday being record release day, opening new vinyl is a regular occurrence at my house.
Too frequent, if you look at my bank statement. :D

No need to be rude about it. I don't use the computer much anymore, and have more of a social life lately.
Jeez..

Well, I looked through before posting, and found nothing. And most music threads I saw were older albums, nothing so recent that's still on the new hit radio stations...

Well, for what it's worth, you can find new lp's for sale in a number of places now. Virgin, Best Buy (only some) and most of your more popular chains are stocking them now. I picked up The Raconteur's new album, along with 'Verve Remixed 4' at the local Virgin last weekend.

The indipendant record stores in my area have stocked new vinyl for the past couple years...I was as shocked as you were when I went looking for the used vinyl bins and everything was shrinkwraped:scratch2:. Their selections are limited, but it made me do some online investigation to places like soundstagedirect.com or elusivedisc.com to discover how much is out there in new catalog (including tons of re-issues of some very expensive vintage albums. Some of the new stuff is incredible and some is piss poor. There have been recent discussions on the quality control issues with new vinyl so beware.
I now will only buy new music if it's on vinyl. Most of my jazz is new Blue Note re-issues that sound fantastic, and are a fraction of what I would pay for an original pressing. I have discovered that 90% of the new artists I listen to are actually pressing their albums on vinyl (either here or in Europe). If I hear something new that I like, I just look it up online and most of the time I find there is a vinyl release. I haven't purchased a CD since 2005.

It's been three years since I bought a new CD. Thanks to the insane "loudness wars", new CDs are barely listenable.
There's new vinyl out there, but it's nothing like 20-30 years ago. Keep buying, maybe vinyl will make a real comeback.
