View Full Version : Waveguide Driver Buy??
Andyman 08-21-2008, 09:19 PM Consider this part two to the Econo WaveGuide horn group buy thread.
Bauhausler is looking to order some Selenium drivers from PE and I could use a set too, so we are wondering if anyone else was looking for a couple drivers. I know some of the buyers already have drivers, but there may be others. The more we can pool together the better; at 4 we get a price break and cshipping certainly will be less.
FWIW, I'm leaning toward the D220Ti @ $40.80 each. this seems to be the driver of choice in the main thread.
D220Ti (http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=264-270)
PM me or Bauhausler if you want in; Bauhausler will do the ordering; I'm just rounding up willing victims :D
Bauhausler 08-21-2008, 09:30 PM That sums it up.
Thanks, Andy.
Punker X 08-22-2008, 05:22 AM If you have a wholesale account with PE the price drops to $36.92 6+ ordered it drops to $33.34. I already have BMS drivers...
Kegger 08-22-2008, 06:10 AM Hey if you guy's would, :D
Let me know when your ordering and if I could tag along to get a pair of the adaptors.

That would be very cool.:smoke:
djnagle 08-22-2008, 10:33 AM This was just posted in the speaker/waveguide thread.....sounds like a deal.
This is kind of dollars and sense but today, 8/22/2008, the D210ti is on the PE deal of the day for $25 with threaded throat, perfect for the Pyle wave guide horn from MCM; $25 D210ti PE
djnagle 08-22-2008, 11:33 AM OK, I just talked to Parts Express and Debby told me that they honnor the $25.00 price on the D210Ti 24 business hours after the special day. So, they will sell you that driver on Monday as well. AND, they are also open tomorrow. So you have the weekend to think about these. Cheers.
djnagle 08-22-2008, 12:10 PM OK, more news. Someone on the thread in the speaker forum, just said that if we had a commercial account, they would only be $20.00. Cheers.

$25 looks to me like the best price I'm going to see. I don't have a commercial account.
Kegger 08-22-2008, 01:16 PM Dam for $20.00 a piece I'd be in on that, heck I'd get my adaptors for free!
Let me see about a commercial account, I may have a contact.
Andyman 08-22-2008, 02:18 PM You know, the way we get stuff, someone in SMAC should just go ahead and set one up somehow for the group...
I'd do it if no one else did, but I don't order hardly anything myself.

Do you need a tax ID number to set up a commercial account?
Kegger 08-22-2008, 02:30 PM OK My contact has an account and I need to know the quantity! (He's local)
So 16 drivers, 2 for me, andy, dennis, squid, punker, ross an (4) cosmos for the D210TI screw on
http://www.parts-express.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?Partnumber=264-235&dotd=082208&orefer=dotd&orefer=dotd $20.30 ea
And were getting 8 adaptors, 2 for me, ross, squid an andy (bolt on driver to screw on horn)
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=264-323 $2.80 ea
Also cosmos plus me, ross an andy for 8 adaptors (screw on driver to bolt on horn)
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&Partnumber=264-322 $2.57 ea
Let me know so I can get this ordered, I really don't want to ask him to get a bunch of other
stuff to but maybe if there were a few multiple cap or coil things, what you guy's think on it?
--------------
EDIT:
OK I'm closing this buy and calling it done, will get the order placed for the above parts.
Will need the cash for these tomorrow, as the layout is decent size for him to shell out! Thanks.
(Consider a few bucks for shipping here as well)
djnagle 08-22-2008, 03:00 PM Hey Keg, sounds good, two for me. see you tomorrow.
grumpy 08-22-2008, 03:37 PM Do you need a tax ID number to set up a commercial account?
Yes you must have one to set up an account.
Punker X 08-22-2008, 04:14 PM I set up accout with a DBA, didn't need a Tax id..
Kegger 08-22-2008, 05:11 PM Everything is updated on post 12.

Looks good to me. Thanks for setting this up, Kegger, and for whoever (Andy?) spotted the price drop.
I'll see some of you tomorrow @ the shindig.
BTW to Keg - I keep forgetting to tell you I'm bringing a bunch of different LEDs , including IR's, you can have for biasing the amp you're building.

not me, I think the tip of the hat goes to DGWojo for that. :thmbsp:
Andyman 08-24-2008, 11:35 AM Kegger:
Any idea on when they'll be delivered?
Ohio is close. so with any kind of luck maybe Monday or Tuesday???
Kegger 08-24-2008, 11:47 AM I'm thinking tuesday or wednesday, as they probably won't ship till monday.
As soon as they come in I'll post it here and let you know.
Andyman 08-24-2008, 11:50 AM You're awake already, Sunshine??? :D
Kegger 08-24-2008, 11:57 AM I was in bed by midnight, rolled around a bit, but did get some ZZZZZ's.
How bout you?
Andyman 08-24-2008, 12:08 PM Bed at midnight, up at 4, work at 5, off at 10 and now here.
Just a bit tired, but getting ready to do some stuff.
But a set on the couch could be fatal.....:D
Squidward 08-26-2008, 04:20 PM WTF did I just buy?!?! I went over to read the "Econo-Waveguide" thread and it's 53 frickin' pages long!!!! Jesus, and there's no pictures of tubes anywhere!!! Woah dude, I need a drink.
Bauhausler 08-26-2008, 05:21 PM I plan to have a pair of Large Advents running the EWG ready to audition for the next SMAC meet if the host permits.
Squidward 08-26-2008, 05:53 PM If you had a "woofer in a box", could you plug in your EWG to it? I guess what I'm asking is that if other people had other platforms, could the woofer portion be easily swapped in and out for comparison purposes?

Sure. It's modular. There are two versions of the HF crossover, generally specified to match high or low sensitivity woofers. The HF section has an Lpad for closely matching the level. There's a 'generic' woofer crossover as well tha tshould be adequate for the majority of cases. Start at around post 828 (p56) for the current crossover versions. And ignore the math and geometry in teh subsequent posts about 'nulls'. Just get the waveguide as close to teh rim of teh woofer as you can and call it good.
Squidward 08-26-2008, 06:07 PM Thanks dude! Tell me what you drink before the next meet, and maybe we'll share a bottle (or two)...
Bauhausler 08-26-2008, 06:11 PM Thanks dude! Tell me what you drink before the next meet, and maybe we'll share a bottle (or two)...
Glad to help. I'm a beer man!
djnagle 08-26-2008, 06:57 PM Hey Squid, I replaced my EV 8hd horns with the Waveguide. I am still using the EV driver. I think it COULD be a cool experiment to put one of your K-55 drivers on it, sitting on top of your Corns, just for a test. Cheers.
Kegger 08-26-2008, 10:16 PM We'll get yu fixed up Squid!
And I should have a set of Ewaves ready for the next meet as well.
My top piece with the Ewave and Xover/Lpad will be removable in it's own self contained
box so it can be swapped into pretty much any woofer in a box that you can come up with.
(removable top grill so you can make adjustments)
dgwojo 08-26-2008, 11:37 PM not me, I think the tip of the hat goes to DGWojo for that. :thmbsp:
Yes, I posted that, I have the threaded and bolt-on versions so I didn't buy more, great bargain, Dave.
Kegger 08-27-2008, 05:53 PM I've got parts!
Anyone want to stop by I'll be outside pretty darn late, not really by a pc so I won't
see any responses till later, Andy knows my number & address, Ross an Dennis should
as well, my info is in the email I just sent also.
Thursday I will be available from say 12:30 till 3:30, friday all day and outside again, I

Stop by tonight, bring a beer! I'm workin on my Wave!
Squidward 08-27-2008, 06:25 PM I got some cabs for $5. I'm hoping to make the "hi-eff" variant. Here are some pics of the cabs I got!

Those are awesome cabs. They look like bass cabs from the music system in a church or something.
djnagle 08-27-2008, 10:12 PM Very cool Squid. With the right driver, those could sound fantastic. Great score. Here is a link to the cabs I got today for $15.00. Cheers.
