I never heard of Domus.
This one looks strange.

:scratch2: Is this a good buy?
He is about 30 minutes from me and gasoline is still not much less than $4/gal.
How much should I offer him?

RUN! RUN! RUN! These were manufactured by DLK in the Twin Cities.

Excellent speaks...doucanoe has a pair and I was really impressed with their sonic characteristics. Ron probably would have the skinny on these.

There's some close ups of his set next to the wilke87's Janzens in this thread.

More info on the speaks....

I'd pay his listed price if that is indeed what he's wanting and walk out feeling like a got a great deal. Of course, it seems he's asking for offers, so time is of the essence, my friend!

If they were in my neck of the woods, I'd be peeling out of the parking lot about now. This dumbass would love some Domas' :D

It is a very good deal. I have a pair of those and they sound very nice.

Actually, those were wilke87's Janzen electrostats you listened to at my house. The Domus Mirage were right next to them. They were playing for some time also. The Domus Mirage is a three way but not electrostat.

oops! I see you caught that already.

It looks like a no-brainer to me. Brad

I don't think that I would argue his asking price too much if they are functioning fine.

One of my pair had a bad tweeter but Paul happend to have a spare. Replacements are out there and not too spendy.

I left a message with the seller this morning & he has not called me back.
I think this means I struck out - even though the ad is still up .. :sigh:

Thanks to all who responded.

Wait a sec.
There is a happy ending to this thread.

 Long story short - the seller DID call back and I was able to snatch'em for $160 after making two trips.
They sound superb - even though the foam/grille is pretty much history, and there is no sign of the socks that's supposed to cover the top 3rd or so.
Solid wood and HEAVY. Each cabinet weighs 120 lbs!
Hope to post some pics soon.

Special thanks to Maxz28 for his timely help. :thmbsp:

Beautiful wood finish.

Missing socks.
Foam is shot/history/dead. :tears:

BTW - this purchase came with owner's manual (A technical discussion by D. Michael Shields).
PM me if you want a copy.

Glad to hear that you got them. They are a very interesting speaker design to say the least. I like mine a lot. Mine had the socks but once I took them off, I never put them back on. In fact, I think they are still around somewhere.

I'm sure that the foam could be duplicated and replaced without too much problem :thmbsp:
