I have not been to a AK fest so please forgive me if I'm barking up the wrong tree here.

I've been reading old threads about past fests and it got me to thinking....

I know I am mostly interested in trading, buying, and selling audio equipment.

Does this hotel have a large ball room we could rent for one afternoon or evening?

If so, why not set up a 4 or 5 hour slot dedicated to member selling/buying/etc.? This would make it much easier for people who are interested in buying to see everything thats offered and it will help sellers get the most viewers without sitting by a table all day.

Sellers can rent tables, and we can organize sellers according to the majority of their merchandise; modern/classic/vintage/lps/speakers/etc.............

If needed, I can help with the organization aspects.

Just throwing it out there,

I'm not new to audio equipment, but I am new to Audiokarma, so if I stepped on someone's toes, my bad.

There have been some swap rooms and a lot of pre-arranged parking lot deals, and is was one aspect that I liked and wouldn't mind seeing more of, but I've always thought there is room for other regional events. Hams seem to do a lot better job at this, there's gotta be more of us than them. Maybe SMAC could talk some place like Gibraltar into giving it a try.

I've had swap tables set up the last few years, but I'm pretty sure more gear got moved via prearranged moves outside the Swap are proper. Maybe we need to set up a special AKFest Swap Classified where folks can post what they have to offer or want? That way twe can hook folks up before the Fest rather than having someone find out that their new best buddy has that set of speakers you've been lusting after sitting in his basement 1000 miles away??

Just to elaborate Andyman's post - there will be at least one swap room in which you can rent a table or tables. The number of such rooms has varied year to year, presumably by demand. Details will be announced (by Grumpy) as the Fest draws closer.

Gibralter Trade Center would be a cool idea if someone could swing that . Maybe like an end of summer or fall time frame so it would not detract from AKFest .

Any go to the super indoor garage sale they had there a few weeks ago ? Just wondering if anyone found anything before the flippers cleaned the place out .

My dad is a ham, so I tag along to all the ham fests, so much cool stuff at those, they are like giant electronics flea markets, more and more vintage audio too this last year.

Is there going to be a sign up for tables again? I might be interested. I don't have much, but what I have needs to go.

I will mark you down.

We will be limiting the rooms to four people per swap room, at $50 per person.

I will be starting a new thread, and including your name.
