I have an HK 930 receiver which has a problem. It only has about 40% volume coming out of the left channel and 100% on the right side. I can fix this problem by engaging the Tone Defeat button which then gives me 100% out of each channel. Any suggestions would be great.
Thanks

You do not mention your skill and/or experience with diagnosing and repairing electronic gear. Can you solder? Do you have a multimeter? Oscilloscope? Screwdriver?
Reduced (but clear) sound is often an indication of dirty contacts. I'd clean all the preamp switches and pots. Bass, treble, balance, loudness, subsonic and high-cut filters, any tape monitor switches with deoxit.
Power off and unplug, take the cover off, and spray deoxit (or other contact cleaner, preferably one that has a lubricant) inside all of these switches and pots. Work them back/forth/around until you get tired. Repeat. Let everything dry out and see if this helps.

If you are unsure about ANYTHING feel free to ask BEFORE you try it out. Okay?

Yes, do not feel bad about asking questions. To clarify my post above, make sure to let the unit dry 24 hours before you plug it back in. Post your results and if the cleaning doesn't help, there will be suggestions forthcoming.
