Does anyone know what would make the tonearm release from que and drift towards the outside of the record? I set the tracking force and anti-skate even, but it still drifts. I have experimented a little and I notice that it doesn't drift if I put the anti-skate at a little under .5.

Put the anti-skate at a little under .5. Problem solved.

true. i was worried that the problem was more than just the anti-skate being off.

Agree. Try cleaning the rubber surface of the cueing mechanism where it contacts the tonearm. I had the same problem and this approach solved it.

it might also be worth checking if the platform the turntable sits on is absolutely level front to back and left to right
..then check the plinth is level
( and if its suspended turntable...check if the platter is level to the plinth with an average weight record on the platter)..

I had that problem with an Infinity Black Widow. The rubber pad had gotten hard with age. Al ittle lighter fluid on a q-tip restored it nicely.
