Hi there,

I thought I should say hi and post a quick message, I joined a few days ago but totally overlooked the introductions thread.

I moved here (Southern NJ) from London England about eight years ago to be with my American wife. I'm interested in old cars and old HiFi, hence joining this list.

Car wise, between my wife and I, we currently have two old Mercury Capris, a 1970 which I brought with me from England, and a 1973 which I bought over here. We also have two Merkur XR4Tis, which was the American version of the Ford Sierra XR4i. In addition, I have a 1964 Mini that I bought from my brother that I shipped over last year. Plus we have a Chevy and a Dodge that are more daily drivers.

HiFi wise, I currently have two complete systems. One is an all Sansui system consisting of an A80 amp, T80 tuner, D90 tape deck and SR5090 turntable. The other is a Pioneer system with an SA1050 amp, TX950 tuner, CT850 tape deck, a SG750 graphic EQ, with a trash picked Sony CD changer as well. I have a Rega Planar 2 turntable which is connected to a PC, I use this to transfer vinyl onto CD and then make MP3s.

I enjoy woodwork, and have made quite a number of different speakers. The Sansui stack picture shows two of the home speakers sets that I have made. The bottom pair are 3 feet tall, and have all SEAS drivers, I made these over 20 years ago. I originally had just one cabinet in place of the back seat in my Mini, this was fitted with four 8" woofers. I was always worried about it getting stolen, so I made another matching cabinet and turned them into a pair of house speakers. The top pair of speakers are ones that I made recently using some drivers from Parts Express.

I also have a few other components lying around in various states of disrepair, off the top of my head they are : Kenwood KR6160 receiver, Sharp RT3388 tape deck, Pioneer CTF850 tape deck (this works, I just replaced all the belts), Pioneer CTF750 tape deck, Pioneer TX6800 tuner (this works also), AudioSource model 8 graphic EQ, Aiwa ADF770 tape deck. I did post a message asking for some advice with the Kenwood and Sharp components, a link to it is below.

Awesome stuff, Lee:
Lust-worthy stacks of Pioneer and Sansui, handsome cabinet work, vinyl spinners and cool music videos. You got the audio thang goin' on. Dig those clocks, too.

Four 8's in back of a Mini must have sounded glorious, though I suspect converting it to half of a home system was at least a benefit to your hearing preservation!

Welcome to AK!

Welcome to here:music:
Ive had a few capri`s myself. Last was a 76` with the V6. it was pretty fast.
If I remember right it was the spyder edition. orange color and fuel injected. It smoked 260Z`s any time any where.
I could be wrong about the edition though. I have had so many cars since , my memory sometimes gets crossed with other cars.
One car I really loved was a Fiat 128 spyder coupe . If i recall it was a 72 or 74` model in a lime green. It handled so good and was roomy. what a great automobile. It was tempramental under the hood but worth every hour of tinkering.
When I was young I rarely had a car more then 6 months, but I had allot of them.
welcome to the US. and you will have to get out here to the west coast sometime:yes:
