So a few weeks ago my girlfriend's mother died. Sad it was, but I did get a nice stereo, rich with memories -consequently it will never be sold, but I'm still curious as to its value. It's a Technics set in three pieces, designed to mate with control interface cables, allowing the receiver to control the lot. It consists of:

SA-GX130 receiver
RS-TR333 double logic control tape deck
SL-PD627 CD changer.

This lot all works.

Also included were two Advent Graduate speakers that I haven't listened to yet (her brother-in-law worked for Advent and actualy helped design the Videobeam) and a very plain Realistic LAB-330 turntable that I'm sure is worth about eight cents.

Sounds to me like its worth a lot to yourself and GF. It probably isn't worth nearly that to someone else. Searching ebay's 'completed auctions' may give you an idea, though.

Indeed, the sentimental value cannot be equaled.
I would not even consider selling any of it. Just keep & pass down for others in the family to enjoy.

Just a thought!

Trust me, I'm going to hang onto it. I was just hoping something like "Technics made millions of 'em"; or "That's actually pretty rare".

Why be dissappointed with the perceived reality? Look at it logically and say, "who cares if there are millions? Who cares if this is the last one?" What you should care about is the fact that this means more to you than anyone else and that in itself makes it priceless. Even if someone could place a dollar figure on it, what would it matter? Too everyone else it's a piece of electronics, to you it's something that was given to you with love. I hold these types of things in high regard and the thought of losing something like that would hurt immensely.
Enjoy it, baby it and keep it close to your heart even when you graduate to other pieces of equipment. Accept it with the intent in which it was given.

Yes - sentimental value is why I seem to collect Technics & MCS gear.

Hang onto what you have, and enjoy the happy thoughts that cross your mind every time you use it.
