Tape deck plays, won't eject. Someone please help! I'm hoping there's an easy fix to this. I have been listening to the beatles (yesterday and today) and pink floyd (animals) for a few days now. it's a 1990 oldsmobile 98 regency if that helps. it's got all the bells and whistles of 1990. any help appreciated. I tried monkeying with it. it just clunks repeatedly trying to eject.

Hopefully you love the tape that's stuck in there..

That's a darn nice first car there. Hard to beat an Old's 98.... Good as a Cadillac....

I know how I'd fix it. I'd take that dinosaur out of the dash and replace it with something modern. Just how many cassettes do you own that might warrant a more involved solution?

Could use an fm transmitter and a portable source.

I just noticed you are from MN. There is a MN ak group Join up

http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/group.php?groupid=14

You will have to come to one of the audio parties now since you got a ride.

Thanks for the link!

I got the tape out the other day and i put one of those CD to tape converters in there. and I was planning on listening to all sorts of my what I call extensive tape collection. If i was to choose to replace the original stereo I'd go 8 track just for fun.

I would install a Pioneer CT-F1000 and call it a day... :D

Used deck off ebay is my recommendation. $25 should do it.

that's almost like my first car! I remember putting in a new delco tape player all by myself and how proud I was of that! The stereo install is very straightforward on this car. If you really wanna install an 8 track player, be aware that most weren't in dash, but rather bolted to to whatever surface was free.

I think you should find one of those silver-faced Pioneer underdash cassette players that had the round tuning dial.

Always thought they looked so cool.
