I love them ever since a friend brought over his a few years ago. I never thought they would stayed.
It's a shame Linn no longer support them.

dogscanskate 12-27-2008, 10:57 AM Hey, I saw those pix somewhere else last night kuma ;)!
dogscanskate 12-27-2008, 10:59 AM Btw, did you find your bass?
kuma. 12-27-2008, 06:26 PM Dogs,
I don't know what happened today, but overnight this thing is unbelievable!
It's probably the most enjoyable hifi I have ever had.

auralfixaton 12-27-2008, 06:59 PM Bet it sounds glorious Kuma!
hifi_nut 12-27-2008, 07:39 PM I was hooked on active systems after hearing a tri-amped naim / Linn PMs back in 1982.
I proceeded to buy me a pair of DMS, for lack of funds to go active, which I sold some years later.
Not totally accurate, but very very exciting and addictive.
kuma. 12-27-2008, 07:57 PM aura,
It was totally worth the hassle of moving the Sondek down. ( have to move back where it belongs eventually before I catch a warth of God, tho )
hifi nut,
I also have a later vintage PMS, but like you I can't afford to go active so they are still in storage. I'd love to try an active Briks someday.
The DMS sucks up power like no tomorrow.
But I see why there is a brouhaha on a Linn/Naim/Linn combo there.
A Briks 6-pack left a great impression amongst who heard it many years ago.
Musically it's still very valid.

Your setup reminds me of the Linn/Naim dealer showroom-1983 Concert Sound San Antonio ,Tx. I bought a Linn LP12 with a Ittok arm and a Sound Design isolation stand for my LP12. I had also bought a MAC4100 receiver and Linn Sara's with stands. Very nice pictures and system. :thmbsp:
kuma. 12-27-2008, 10:40 PM Small world, greg.
Creston still runs Concert Sound but now he's in Austin, Tx but moved on and no longer represents Linn or Naim but he's a US distributor of yet 'nother interesting speakers by Rhodeko.
A fine shop and he's an absolute gentleman.
p.s. We have one of the old B&W pic Creston took on the wall. He's got good eyes for the photography.

I've spoken to him since he's made the transition to Austin. Mark is no longer around though. Last I had heard he was working on his PhD-not sure what though. Did you ever go by his shop in San Antonio? He more or less educated me on hi fi and what sounds right and what doesn't. He would probably shoot me for buying a MAC tube amp-he considers tube amps to be very outdated. My MC2102 does the trick for me with my MCD500 SACD/CD player and Spendor S8e's.
kuma. 12-27-2008, 11:33 PM gerg,
No. I have only visited his Austin shop.
He's an excellent teacher but he does not *preach* as many others. He never once tried to force his dogma on me. Instead, he just let me listen.
It's a broad church. I adore my SET amps. I use them with a NAC 52 in my office driving much smaller standmounts.

I bought some DNM interconnects with Eichmann bullet plugs from him in 2006. Those were very cheep and worked better than any RCA's that I've tried before.
I use them on my second system in the master bedroom. Did the deal over the phone while he was filling me in on everything since he moved to Austin. I plan to visit him and his new shop someday.
afewbeers 01-19-2009, 04:32 PM Thought I'd stick my hand up as a happy 'brik owner.
Aktiv/3xLK280/PMS
Fed with LP12, AV5103, Karik.
Its old fashioned but still does special things for me after all this time. Active is definitely an exciting way to go.
kuma. 01-19-2009, 05:18 PM Finally another Brik user!:D
I also have a mint pair of later serial PMS & Naim Olive Xover ( these were the last demo set for the previous US Importer back then ) hoping one day, I can get to try them. ( but it's a lot of resources and room they take up )
I agree that they were meant to be driven active ( suck up more power than I ever imagined ), but a single 500 does an admirable job for now.
It was even better when I had a Sondek set up. They really are supposed to go together. There was the rightness to the system and have to say it was the best I have heard from my passive pair to date. Sadly, I had to go back to a CD player till I find another Mana Wall Shelf. ( too springy floor )
Anyways, if you feel like it, send in your system pix here.

cabermac 04-11-2009, 12:41 PM Brik owner since 92, went active in 94 with LK280s. Sondek/Lingo/Ekos on the front end with a LK1/Dirak preamp.Creek cd player, various other sources. Love the system to death. Need to upgrade the preamp someday but I'm too busy listening to music.
kuma. 04-12-2009, 12:25 AM I am hoping the day I can go active on the PMS as well.
dogscanskate 04-12-2009, 12:33 AM you went past PMS kuma, a long time ago ;) !
kuma. 04-12-2009, 12:42 AM I know!
That's why I need to activate it before I go dead. ;)

this was one of the silly experiment.
Briks + 30 watts SET monoblock amplifiers.
Surprisingly they did not sound that badly at a low volume. But obviously, there is no point doing this. :D
tualek53 08-18-2009, 05:23 PM Another angle shot of isobsriks in sleeping mode and also living room setup.
