I'm going tobe makeing another armboard for my Sony PS-2251 TT. The original armboard appears to be made of plywood with a walnut veneer. I was considering makeing the new armboard out of either solid walnut or maple. Any suggestions for an armboard material that would both have a vintage look and be acoustically neutral.

I would try the two woods you are considering.. good choices. Make one out of each and try them both out. Then come back and enlighten us with the sonic differences.
