I found mydelf making comparisons to the Don Henley and the Eagles even if the words were French and the music Cajun. Not Zydeco, Cajun. A little rock, a little C&W a lot of fiddle and 100% Caujun, the album is Bon Reve by Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys.
I heard one track of this while checking out Hornphiles latest horns a bit over a week ago and when Julia asked to go to Tower today I decided to find it and just hand it to her on the way to check out. It worked.
Good music, pleasant singing, toe tapping fun, and lots of acoustical instruments.
If you want to get some of the real sound of the Bayous, this is a great one. I feel like it has really rounded my collection out.

That is indeed a good 'un. Try Zacahary Richard, a bit more mainstream, but dynomite.

Last of the small vinyl haul today- The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem, Sing of The Sea - geez, I was looking for sea chanties, and found a jewel- must be from the mid-60's, as it has the Columbia boiler plate "can be played on mono...." Almost NO surface noise on this- O, a buck can still buy happiness.

I take exception to that remark. I have lived in Louisiana in the past and it was a great place to live, work, and enjoy great music.
That would be like me saying that anybody who is a fan of Cerwin Vega products sucks. And while it might be true in individual cases, it is not an accepted generality. I am a professional chef and you won't find anywhere where people enjoy food any more that Louisiana.
Oh well, I guess I will get over it.

Not only are you the only guy I have heard of named Cerwin but only the 2nd to brag about driving a Vega. The 1st one by the way lived in Louisiana.
A little word here, advice as it were. You go saying that in Louisiana and you will most likely end up as an alligator turd, if you can understand what I am telling you.

I am loving this thing and turned it on this morning to one of the waltz numbers when Julia was leaving for work this morning. About 2 hours later she called me up swearing at me because she was still tapping her toes to it.
Great song titles too, like "Eyeball At The Bottom Of The Well". Who can resist?
Alan, get this one!:D
