Greetings!!

Has anyone ran this little gem with 4 ohm speakers?? And if so, what speakers and how did they sound??

Thanks kindly!!!

Every vintage Marantz can take a 4 Ohm load.

Remember: a speaker is never straight 8 or 4 Ohm's.
It's a nominal value.

.....and that means that 4 ohm load.....can dip down to as low as 2 ohms.
With my 35 year old Marantz 2230 and 2010 receivers.....I will NOT use anything below 8 ohms.....to be on the side of caution.

So what is more likely when running 4ohm speakers on a marantz, the receiver getting damaged or the speakers?

I'm guessing overheating of the reciever and maybe blowing the outputs??

Just wondering cause I was looking at a set of Spica's :)

The only caution would be to make sure you have only 1 pair of speakers connected because if you accidentally turn on all 4 speakers at the same time that would be a problem.

This does not make any sense.
For example: my Klipsch RF-7 are supposed to be 8 Ohm.
They dip to 3,2 Ohm's at a certain frequency.

I know some speakers that are 8 Ohm and dip easaly under 3 Ohm's.
