Hi, I am looking for some suggestion as to what would be an ideal setup for 7.1 home theater. My choices are MC602 front, MC501 Center and MC206 for rear surrounds (4 of them). The other 2 channels of the MC206 can be used for Zone 2, no big deal. The other option would be MC2102 front and MC206 for center & rear. I will be using 2 Magnepan MGCC1 for center, MG1.6QR for reae surrounds (4) and MG3.5R for fronts. I want to use this for 2 channel stereo listening as well. These are the current components I own and do not want to buy more if I don't have to. They will be connected to a MX135. thanks

In a setup like that with the speakers you have, the MC602 & MC207 is the best combination. The tube amp will have a tough time with the Maggies. Since many of us on AK do 2 channel listening & some multi channel listening, we like to have a good amp on the main L & R channels. The MC602 will more than deliver the sound you want.
7 x MC501's would be ideal for a start and if not enough, well up the next level to 7 x MC1.2k .... That should work! Of course, any other combos like MC2k for left/right & the rest 5 channels with MC1.2k would be what Dr. IvanLu could recommend to be an end all for "Mcitchy symptoms" ...

Nah ... I have yet to get the McItchy for HT ... plus I got burned (luckily not fried) in the recent financial meltdown ... :tears: But I managed to survive!

Go with the suggestion from Audioclassics. I used the 207 and 205 amps and they are great.

Thanks. So using 2 center channel speakers, the MC206 200wpc is a good match for the MC602 front left/right? So I do not need the MC501 for center duty then?
Correct.
I'm glad I only run 4.1, I only need two 2 channel amps.
