Tha motor on my 1970s Rega has stopped working -I first thought I would change it but then wasn't sure where the problem lay. I have checked that current reaches the circuitry alongside it. It's a Philips Synchronious MB02 110v motor - current here is 240v so is there a transformer as well? Also when I brush the stylus with a finger I get no sound - thought this was a different thing altogether. You will have realized by now that Rega tts are not my specialist subject! Any advice on what tests I could do to find the fault are very much appreciated - I'm looking at a shop repair as a last resort as these seem to cost more than the equipment is worth.
Thanks, Peter

Peter, you don't need to get your motor repaired, because you can get the new motor upgrade used in the new P3-24 from your Rega dealer or distributor (I don't know where you live so I can't point you in the right direction). It is compatible with your Planar 3. I just had one put in my 1981 Planar 3 and it sounds great; it was $175 here in the U.S. Check on Rega's web page for details on getting one from your local Rega dealer or distributor. You should also get a new belt while you are at it, mine was just about to break, and was heavily cracked and worn.
Here is the link to the upgrade kit: http://www.rega.co.uk/index2.htm. Select the upgrade kit link at the lower bottom right of the page.

G'day Peter,
I love my rega as well. Not sure where you are located but 240 volts I'm guessing that it might be the land down under. If so you could always ask the guys at

Lots of rega fans down there.
Cheers
