I've been looking at that TT and also a used VPI Scout. I suspect the Scout is a step up the food chain but the new arm on the 7.1 looks nice. I'll be interested to hear others comments. Bigerik 11-09-2008, 10:12 PM Probably best to have a good read in the Turntable forum. Lots of good info in there. Oh, and welcome to AK. willywoody 11-24-2008, 12:37 PM i've had the mmf 7 and thought it was a good table, really nearly as good as the sota sapphire i now have. i needed more isolation from footfalls and vibration, hence the sota purchase. haven't heard the 7.1 with the new arm but it's supposedly even better. however, a used scout will allow for more upgrade capability in the future and is considered better than the mmf 7 by most everyone. cfranz 11-24-2008, 02:35 PM I have the mmf 5.1, it's OK. I've listened to the old 7.1 (not the new one). I'd say, for the price, look around. Especially in the used market. You can get a LOT of turntable for $500 and use the rest for an exceptional cartridge. Ask around, get opinions. Pop over to the TT forum, lots of good advice there.... |
