Hello. I've been into vintage gear for a while but I'm utterly new to Linn.

I've been looking for a good power amp and came across an LK 85 locally for $425. I'm was hoping folks here might give me some feedback on the sound quality of this amp. I'm not familiar at all with the Linn sound.

Are there any issues integrating this amp with non-Linn components? I'd be using an Odyssey Tempest Extreme pre.

Thanks! Thor

Littlte slow with an answer but I have heard them. LK-85/140 are the last of Linn's non switching power supply amps. The LK85 amp are around 60 (62?) watts per channel @8ohms. In my opinion they work best in bi or triamped modes. There are crossover cards that go inside (sold separately) to allow active operation. What all this leads to is the thought that Linn amps work best with Linn speakers. Probably Keilidhs or Ninkas with a sub would work best. Looking at your system I don't know how they would match up. Lk140's have around 90 wpc so maybe a better match as a single passive amp. I'm guessing though. If you can try it first before buying you would be better off. Lastly Linn ends support on there older gear after a while so another factor. That said active linn systems are nice.
