Hi everyone!

Just got a question or should I say worry!!

My TV (sony bravia w300a 40" Full HD) has this weird black line about 20 cms long and 2 cm thick on the top left of my screen and it makes me so so worried that i spent a fortune just to see this...

Please let me know what this might be. I should atleast be in a position to explain the serviceman what it is ,lest he/she might cheat me and charge me a fortune..

Thank you in Advance.

Hi Don,
Sounds like it is new - or very new - why would you worry if it is under warranty? - or did you take out extended warranty cover ? - if you bought it with a credit card (in the UK at least, and depending on which card) your purchase is protected by the credit card company as well....for a while :scratch2:

Just explain it to the service engineer like you have here.

And chill :smoke:

Oh, and Welcome to AK - lots of real help here !

John

You can never go wrong with a Panasonic. Period.

A lot of times you have to mess with the resolution. You should be able to adjust what you want. 16x9 or 4x3 etc....

Also try playing a DVD to see if it goes away. When I purchased my HD tv I had to call the cable company because my picture was so bad and they ran a new better line from the pole to my house and that fixed it.

Wow, not only completely off base but just as useless waste to time to post.....bravo.

Back to the point, you should be asking this of those at service and support, from what you describe and I cant tell exactly but it doesnt sound normal and is most likely a defect that can be repaierd or replaced...if its a new purchase than it will be..... if its an older unit than you may be SOL.
BTW is it possible that "closed caption" is in some way on and needs shut off?
