Saw 'em in concert last night at the montalvo arts center. They may be old but they can play the blues! Before the concert, they made the artists available for a question/answer session which was cool. Pinetop seems like 95yo when he's talking but my god, he's a young fella' when he sits down at the piano playing and singing. Both Pinetop and Willie Smith were in Muddy Water's band for a decade or longer. Willie plays drums and harmonica and is probably best known for his drums but he wailed away on the harmonica last night. James Wheeler is a chicago style guitarist. :thmbsp:
Anyway, it was a good time and if you get the chance go see 'em.

Yeah, great stuff. I too am a tad envious I wasn't there to see them. The old blues masters use to come to Washington DC when they toured, but we don't have any real blues clubs anymore so it is rare we get a chance.
Kinda weird thinking about it, DC is such a big city, mostly black, and no outlet for touring blues acts.
Good to hear someone is out there supporting and enjoying a true American art form.

That's one to remember, Joyce. We lose some musical treasures each year, so I'm glad you could see them while they are still with us.

You're so right. I'm been stupid or inattentive in the past about such things but these days I'm trying to see more shows and especially grab the chance when oldtimers come through.
