There is No way I will ever get to replace all my current CD's to SACD,Some,I wouldnt feel the need too
So please suggest some artists & titles that you feel
are essential to have in SACD format for critical listening

All types of music so this thread will work for anyone
(5.1 or 2 channel)

A couple right off the bat that come to mind for me -

Pink floyd - Dark side of the moon
Miles davis - Kind of blue

Many of the RCA Living Stereo discs as well as Telarcs. Another very interesting one is David Chesky's Area 31.

Bob Dylan has a bunch of SACD re-releases out. I have Blood On The Tracks, and Slow Train Coming.

Ryan Adams - Gold

DSOTM was mentioned, the only thing that sounds cleaner to me on the SACD version are the clocks ticking, heartbeat, etc. Gilmours Strat has such a distinctive sound even on the RB CD.

If you are a Rolling Stones fan, the hybrid SACDs of their Decca catalog are the definitive versions. Getting harder to find though, and more expensive.

Weather Report Heavy Weather is a good one.

I love the Elton John's in 5.1.
Beck's Sea Change is total ear candy.
The Billy Joel's are very nice too.

Addendum to my earlier post RE Rolling Stones SACDs- there is a seller on eBay with a seemingly endless supply of the Stones "Aftermath" on SACD but without the original case. It is just the disc. But if that doesn't matter much to you, the price is hard to beat $5 plus $2 shipping. I picked one up a couple years ago and it seems to be the genuine item.

Usual disclaimers apply, don't know the seller, no affiliation or interest etc...just passing along a good deal..

DSOTM for sure, especially set-up for simultaneous viewing of the Wizard of Oz. Different format but Fly Like an Eagle is very good in DTS 5.1 Audio.

Hey Mark, I know you're a Pat Metheny / ECM fan. I really like this title , some incredible work here especially on the Like Minds track where Corea and Metheny manage to match licks, chord-for-chord, with Burton. :music:

Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells. IIRC there were two mixes, one was a remake from the original multi-tracks, and the other was the original quad mix. I can't find my copy now but I really liked it in 5.1. It also featured the 'wandering around the studio funny outtake' not on the stereo version but on the quad, which is interesting for completists.
