View Full Version : Favorite Album Closers
caddisgeek 11-20-2008, 11:20 PM What are your favorite tracks that finish off CD or LP (side 2)
For me its:
Stones "Cant Always Get What You Want" of Let it Bleed
Hendrix "Bold as Love" off Axis Bold as Love
Dead Kennedys "Holiday in Cambodia" off Fresh Fruit For Rotten Vegtables
Pink Floyd "Echos" off Meddle
Rose Tattoo "Astra Wally" off Rose Tatoo
These are off the top of me head, I was listening to Let it Bleed and it ocured to me what a fantastic way to close with a bang, I'm sure I'll think of more
Cheers
Steve
Strangeband 11-21-2008, 06:07 AM "Check Out," the last song on side 2 of It's Only a Movie, which was the final album recorded by Family.

the who - who's next - won't get fooled again.
ponderbear 11-21-2008, 09:03 AM Pink Floyd "Echos" off Meddle
And what a closer it is!
Gotta vote for
"God"- John Lennon, Plastic Ono Band
"Ambulance Blues-" Neil Young, On the Beach
"Sad Eyed Lady of the Lowlands"- Dylan, Blonde on Blonde
"In the Court of the Crimson King"- King Crimson, In the Court of the Crimson King
"Islands"- King Crimson, Islands
"Complicated Game"- XTC, Drums and Wires
"Love, Reign o'er Me"- The Who, Quadrophenia
brucered 11-21-2008, 09:40 AM "Love, Reign o'er Me"- The Who, Quadrophenia

ablethevoice 11-21-2008, 09:45 AM ELP - Trilogy - ABADDON'S BOLERO
Rush - Hemispheres - LA VITA STRANGIATO
The Who - Who's Next - WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN
KeninDC 11-21-2008, 12:19 PM Great - "Tomorrow Never Knows" off of "Revolver." It's like I never want it to end.
Totally out of place - "Moonlight Mile" off of "Sticky Fingers." I usually pick up the stylus after "Dead Flowers."
ponderbear 11-21-2008, 12:24 PM Great - "Tomorrow Never Knows" off of "Revolver." It's like I never want it to end.
Yes, an amazing album closer! :thmbsp: I agree it's too short.
Jack Lord 11-21-2008, 12:28 PM "Her Majesty" on Abbey Road. You have this grand, majestic finale of Carry That Weight>The End. But with a touch of irony or perhaps to puncture the effect so as to avoid pretentiousness, they threw that one in after a false ending. Love it.
Also, the last and long lasting chord of "A Day in the Life" on Sgt Pepper is a very ominous ending.
Its all coming up Fab 4 today.
dr*audio 11-21-2008, 12:31 PM "There's no dark side of the moon, really. As a matter of fact it's all dark."
ponderbear 11-21-2008, 12:56 PM How could I forget one the most jarring album enders, "Jugband Blues" at the end of Pink Floyd's Saucerful of Secrets.
It's tragic and screwy, yes. But it leaves quite an impact, therefore a favorite.
Mystic 11-21-2008, 01:27 PM "Bold as Love" from Axis: Bold As Love
Can't argue with that, definitely one of the best finishers.
gearhound 11-21-2008, 04:13 PM Closing Time......Tom Waits
It's the last song on Side 2, of that LP.

Twenty20Man 11-21-2008, 04:21 PM born to run..jungleland
Snade 11-21-2008, 04:29 PM Down By The River - Buddy Miles Live lp
caddisgeek 11-21-2008, 05:31 PM I cant believe I forgot "wont get fooled again"
The one that popped into my mind immediately was "Happy Trails" at the end of Diver Down by Van Halen. Hokey, but a fun finish.

elcoholic 11-21-2008, 07:34 PM The end of Abbey Road.
Permanent Waves 11-21-2008, 08:38 PM Rush - Hemispheres - LA VITA STRANGIATO
Yes, great one! Closes off the album perfectly and one of the best instrumentals ever. (It's Villa btw).
"Natural Science" off of Permanent Waves is a great closer as well, and I like "Between the Wheels" from Grace Under Pressure too, it sums up the darkness of much of the album and is a very good but under appreciated track.
"Purple Rain" closes Purple Rain well.
"Wind Up" from Aqualung is a good closer.
Quint 11-21-2008, 09:57 PM “Meanwhile Back at the Ranch/Should I Smoke,” from Badfinger’s sorely underappreciated classic Wish You Were Here. The sheer desperation in that song’s fury is spine-tingling. A year later, Pete Ham would be dead by his own hand, and one of the truly great bands of its era essentially finished.
audio-ed 11-21-2008, 10:02 PM Carly Simon " no secrets"
onepixel 11-22-2008, 04:29 PM God Save the Queen. The last song after Bohemian Rhapsody.
OvenMaster 11-22-2008, 06:10 PM "Follow Me" on Blondie's "Autoamerican". A Lerner & Loewe show tune from "Brigadoon".
